John Woodmansee was trained as an academic with emphasis in personality and social psychology (Ph.D. University of Colorado, 1965).  His therapeutic journey was encouraged by working with others in small groups and his teaching at Wake Forest University (1965-78). He founded the Piedmont Summer Program for training leaders in group counseling. His mentors are Carl Rogers, Irma Shepherd, Carl Whittaker, Albert Pesso, and Pamelle Dixon White.

In recent years Dr. Woodmansee is most often recognized by his efforts as a building contractor, home inspector and ensemble singer.  He still exercises his talents and restorative skills as a member of The Shepherd's Center Handyman team and volunteer tax preparer with the Forsyth Free Tax program.
